Art at Nature's Edge

How does the water flow?

Why do clouds move like they do?

What dictates the shapes of trees?

Like a boy with a magnifying glass I am looking for an answer, spending my time trying to unravel the mysterious energies that flow through nature. Light being the key.

Using observation, often through photography, I capture moments of time and then manipulate materials trying to create an “inscape”- the form that evokes the spiritual. The resulting piece can be abstract, or a more literal translation of landscape/ nature.

I am a passionate printmaker and this media has always been part of my life. I love experimenting with wood, lino and other materials.

Recently I have gained confidence with the brush and I am discovering oils on canvas afresh. Using high qaulity pigments, I am trying to express the emotion inspired by sublime light in the landscape.
